Abstract: | The thesis, "Building an Effective Warehouse Dashboard: Improving Operational Insight through KPIs" by Luc van Hienen, focuses on designing a warehouse dashboard to enhance operational insights for Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Bricklog Holding B.V., which specializes in data management for SMEs in the transport and logistics sector, aims to develop a comprehensive Business Intelligence (BI) product that interprets data from Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). The research addresses the gap in current WMSs, which lack advanced analytics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) essential for operational insight. The research objective is to create a dashboard that integrates with existing WMS infrastructure, highlighting critical KPIs to enable SMEs to optimize warehouse operations. The study employs a systematic approach, including a literature review to identify best practices, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to prioritize KPIs, and stakeholder insights to guide the design. The dashboard features interactive data filtering, drill-through capabilities, and visual alerts, implemented using PowerBI. Validation involved surveys with Bricklog representatives and University of Twente students, focusing on usability, perceived usefulness, and semantic quality of KPIs. Findings indicate the importance of systematic KPI selection and effective data visualization. The research concludes that a well-designed dashboard can significantly enhance operational insights and decision-making for SMEs, with recommendations for further development and validation. |
