Abstract: | Screen Time is higher than it has ever been. Because of this it is very important to investigate what effects this could have. This study will investigate the relationship between Screen Time, Extraversion, and Sleep Quality. This is specifically done in students aged 18-25, as they are some of the most intensive users of screens. This study utilizes the Mini-IPIP for Extraversion, shortPSQI for Sleep Quality, as well as a self-report questionnaire related to Screen Time. These total scores are then calculated, and analysed in a linear regression analysis. An interaction coefficient is added to investigate the moderation effect of Extraversion on the relationship between Screen Time and Sleep Quality. A significant positive relationship was found between Extraversion and Sleep Quality. Screen Time unexpectedly yielded a positive relationship with Sleep Quality, though this was not significant. No significant proof was found for an moderation effect of Extraversion on the relationship between Screen Time and Sleep Quality. This study found no significant relationship between Screen Time and Sleep Quality, possibly due to post-COVID-19 effects or cultural differences. Strengths include using shortened questionnaires and possible new insights; limitations include self-reported screen time, lack of screen use guidelines, and an unbalanced sample. |
