Abstract: | The twin transition leverages digital technologies to enhance environmental sustainability and guides digital progress by incorporating sustainable practices. Leadership plays a crucial role in this transition and is one of the major drivers to improve the performance of the organization. Yet, it is unknown how different leadership styles influence the employees’ commitment during periods of organizational change, specifically the twin transition. Thus, this research investigates how transformational, transactional, and instrumental, influence employees' commitment during this organizational change. A total of 8 semi-structured were conducted within different organizations and were analyzed based on an inductive approach to thematic analysis. The findings showed that transformational and instrumental leadership positively affect the commitment of employees towards change. Effective leaders empower employees, involve them in decision-making, and communicate a clear vision to enhance commitment. Additionally, recognition and acknowledgment of employees' contributions are crucial factors for maintaining motivation. The findings of the research are summarized in a conceptual model. The model consists of 5 propositions on how leadership styles impact employees’ commitment towards the twin transition. |
