Abstract: | A virtual reality environment called “Walk in Nature” (WiN) was developed to increase subjective vitality (Bareišytė, 2021). The present study researched the usability of the WiN environment when implemented at home, as well as potential barriers, concerns and expectations associated with the implementation. The study made use of a control and experiment group, consisting of students from the University of Twente. Participants tried out the WiN environment, and afterwards filled in a survey which included questions of the UTAUT2 (Venkatesh, 2012) and open-ended questions. The mean scores of the constructs of the UTAUT2 were computed. Spearman’s Rank correlation was computed between mean scores of BI and the other constructs of the UTAUT2. Resultingly, PE and HT were positively correlated with BI. Open questions were analysed through thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). This analysis led to found concerns regarding the available free space when using the VR environment, the set-up of the VR, and the provision of clear instructions. The VR environment could be developed more by adding exercises and modes to make it more engaging, as well as giving more variety in ways to use the WiN environment. |
