Abstract: | User-generated reviews have become a crucial aspect of movie critique, influencing audience decisions, and shaping a movie's reputation. Different platforms provide varied spaces for users to share their views, affecting where the audience chooses to seek information. This study explores the dynamics of film critique across three major digital platforms: YouTube, Reddit, and Letterboxd. It investigates how platform-specific characteristics and norms shape comment engagement using affordance theory, and how they affect sentiment expression, comment length, and comment complexity through the dual-capacity model of media choice. |
