Abstract:This research describes the process of designing a side illumination based finger vein pattern capturing device from the ground up by combining 3D and PCB design. The experiments also dive into the topic of identifying the best overexposure mitigation technique out of the several proposed in the related work. The device’s performance was evaluated based on a small dataset collected with it. The setup was proven to provide images of similar quality as that of the University of Twente’s design which operates on the principle of top transillumination
