Abstract:This thesis describes the design and implementation of an on-board battery charger based on a novel direct phase-modular bidirectional Yrectifier. The research focuses on incorporating various dc/dc converter topologies into the phase-modular Y-rectifier, including conventional buck-boost, SEPIC, Zeta, and Ćuk converters. This thesis explores circuit extensions that integrate the phase-modular Y-rectifier with these dc/dc converter topologies. A comprehensive analysis and evaluation are conducted, covering the necessary modulation and control techniques, operating waveforms, and detailed topology considerations. Additionally, a prototype of one of the topologies will be realized, discussed, and evaluated based on factors such as component stresses, power density, and efficiency.
