Abstract: | Since five years, the paediatrics department at Medisch Spectrum Twente has implemented an e-health care application which allows healthcare professionals to monitor their patients’ health status from a distance. Since the paediatrics department has little knowledge about the time healthcare professionals spend on e-health care, this research investigates the effect of e-health care expansion on the staff capacity in the pulmonary paediatrics department. For this research, a Monte-Carlo simulation is created, which outputs the number of hours spent on e-health care per week, including a 95% Confidence Interval and the corresponding number of FTE on a dashboard. When the number of patients increases, a linear increase in time spent is observed for all healthcare professionals, with a shift in the task division between the different healthcare professionals. |
