Abstract:This thesis focuses on a problem TKF, an electricity cable manufacturer, faces in the changeover process of a machine in the production line. The company wants to reduce the time between production of different cable types. To achieve this we provide the company with new schedules for the different processes. We calculated these schedules using an RCPSP model, this model takes the duration of all the activities performed in the process along with the precedence between them and calculated calculates the optimal sequence for the process. For the different types of changeover performed at TKF, we got an average duration reduction of 38%. This reduction is the result of performing the process with 3 operators and performing activities simultaneously. These results are why we recommend implementing the new schedules at the company and gathering data on the effectiveness of the changes.
