Abstract: | Patients after receiving an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, go through a 3 phase rehabilitation process. In the third phase where they are training to return to play, agility tests can be performed to assess their readiness to resume participation in team sports. Currently the performance of these tests are judged qualitatively. A research team of UT, Pro-F, Zuyd Hogeschool and OCON are working on quantitative assessment of the agility tests. To this end, my research will comprise oftwo parts. First, a literature is reviewed to identify motion related parameters (e.g. knee range of motion, timing during cutting motion) that are proven to indicate a difference between the affected and unaffected knee in ACL patients. Using this information on parameter is selected that is worked out in detail meaning that experimental information is acquired with an Xsense suit and that data processing algorithm is developed and tested to confirm contribution to the assessment of the ACL patients. Part of the data needed in this thesis is already available, part of the data will be acquired and processed within this thesis. |
