Abstract: | This research is performed at the GEO-information department of the Municipality of Enschede focussing on the processing and distribution of mutations and measurement tasks. In the current situation measurement tasks are often outsourced, which incur outsourcing costs for the Municipality. This research aims to find a way to give insights in the processes and the processing times in order to distribute tasks more efficient and reduce the number of outsourced tasks. The solution created for this purpose consists of a tool created by means of macros (VBA code) in Microsoft Excel. Using a menu in this tool, process times can be linked to incoming applications in order to gain insight into the work/hour distribution of employees. To check whether the tool could serve as an actual solution to the outsourcing problem, it was used to measure over a ten-week period whether outsourcing of measurement tasks was necessary; this showed that over the measured period the work could have been distributed in such a way that no outsourcing was necessary. |
