Abstract: | This master thesis examines the critical skills of Chief Digital Officers (CDOs) in driving digital transformation within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany. With digital technologies reshaping industries, SMEs face unique challenges in implementing these transformations, often lagging behind larger corporations. This research identifies and analyzes essential CDO-related skills that SME leaders must adopt to successfully navigate the digital landscape. Through a comprehensive literature review and quantitative survey, this study proposes a framework that highlights the pivotal role of digital strategic vision, leadership orientation, innovative thinking, tech savviness, and networking in enhancing the digital maturity of SMEs. The findings offer valuable insights for SME leaders aiming to steer their organizations toward sustainable digital growth. |
