Abstract: | This thesis investigates the extent to which Proloog can be considered a learning organization according to the perceptions of various function groups within the organization. The research is based on the conceptual frameworks of Kools et al. (2017) and focuses on seven dimensions: shared vision, continuous professional learning, team learning, research culture, systems for knowledge exchange, learning from the external environment, and leadership for learning. To answer the research question, questionnaires were administered to teachers, internal supervisors (IB'ers), and directors. Additionally, tips were collected and analyzed to gain supplementary insights. Descriptive statistics provide an overview of the central tendency and dispersion of responses to questions about the seven dimensions. The results show that Proloog scores high on shared vision and leadership for learning, suggesting a strong foundation for a shared vision and effective leadership within the organization. However, the dimensions of continuous professional learning and research culture score lower, especially at locations with high staff turnover. This indicates a need for targeted support and resources to strengthen these characteristics. Significant differences in perception were found between teachers, IB'ers, and directors. Teachers experience the characteristics of a learning organization differently than IB'ers and directors, suggesting a possible gap in communication and support. This finding underscores the need for inclusive communication and participation in the development and implementation of organizational changes. The collected tips and recommendations point to the need for regular evaluation and revision of the vision, more involvement of all staff members, improved communication and information exchange, and strengthened collaboration and team development. These recommendations are aimed at both school level and Proloog level and provide a practical roadmap for further development. In conclusion, it can be stated that Proloog exhibits characteristics of a learning organization, but there is room for improvement, particularly in the areas of continuous professional learning and research culture. The organization must make efforts to strengthen these dimensions and improve communication and support between the different function groups. The findings of this research provide a valuable basis for the further development of Proloog as a learning organization. This thesis contributes to the literature on learning organizations in education and offers practical recommendations for Proloog and similar organizations to enhance their learning capacity. |
