Abstract:Background and Aim: Since December 2023, a trial study has been conducted in the MST rheumatology and gynaecology departments, focusing on patients with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and endometriosis. This study investigates the usability and acceptability of generic Patient Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) questionnaires based on the experiences of staff and patients. The goal is to assess the usability of PROMs, identify areas for improvement, and evaluate their potential application in other departments. Methods: The study involved semi-structured interviews with six patients and seven staff members (two from gynaecology and five from rheumatology). Recruitment was based on availability and targeted sampling. Separate questions were developed for each group, and interviews were transcribed using Amberscript, then analyzed with Atlas.ti 24. Results: Participants recognized benefits of using generic PROMs in the hospital, though some staff expressed uncertainty about their applicability across departments. Barriers included lengthy questionnaires and access difficulties in HiX, while facilitators included relevant PROMs for patients. Recommendations for improvement were provided. Conclusion: The study confirmed factors influencing the usability and acceptability of generic PROMs at MST. Recommendations include enhancing questionnaire visibility and ensuring discussions between doctors and patients. Further research is needed to optimize administration and validate findings in other departments.
