Abstract:The thesis examines the adoption and improvement of the "eLink" tool used in Schiphol Airport's air cargo export processes, managed by Cargonaut, a Royal Schiphol Group subsidiary. eLink allows digital pre-registration of shipment details, intended to streamline cargo processing by reducing paperwork and congestion. Despite mandatory usage and penalties for non-compliance, eLink adoption remains below desired levels, averaging around 85.4%. The research, conducted for Air Cargo Netherlands (ACN), explores solutions to increase engagement, focusing on a new IT artefact to better communicate performance metrics. Using the Design Science Research Methodology, the study assesses factors like usability, social influence, and organizational support, drawing from UTAUT and TPB frameworks to analyze behavioral drivers behind eLink adoption. A key finding is that the current eLink dashboard is underused due to its complexity. The proposed solution involves an automated email system to deliver user-specific eLink performance updates, aiming to enhance awareness and incentivize use. Recommendations suggest that ACN and Cargonaut implement this tool alongside the dashboard, continuously refining it with user feedback to improve engagement and ultimately raise the eLink adoption rate.
