Abstract:As mental health challenges are a global concern, timely mental health treatments are becoming increasingly important. Digital mental health interventions are a promising approach to enable timely, personalised support. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of specific intervention elements in such interventions remains unclear. As a part of a bigger study, this pilot study aimed to validate a framework of therapeutic elements that seek to address psychological processes, specifically focusing on mindfulness and cognitive restructuring in addressing rumination and worrying. While this study does not focus on just-in-time adaptive interventions (JITAIs), it aims to validate the proposed framework through a pilot study, which potentially could be used for future digital mental health interventions. A survey was conducted using 13 mental health experts who rated the effectiveness of several intervention elements on a 7-point Likert scale. The results indicated no significant difference between mindfulness and cognitive restructuring in addressing rumination and worrying, suggesting that both approaches are perceived as valuable in addressing these psychological concerns. Despite being based on subjective ratings, this pilot study provides a foundation for future research to refine the framework and explore its applicability in various psychological contexts.
