Abstract: | Structural Health Monitoring (SMH) plays a crucial role in monitoring the condition of railway bridges. Nevertheless, there is a lack of research on SHM and the Vehicle-Bridge Interaction (VBI). Prior research has focused on numerical research and its experimental validation, but the experimental validation is not complete yet as no interaction has been found from the experimental setup. The overarching goal of this research is to find the issue of why no interaction has been found and if it is possible to find a clear VBI with an experimental setup. To identify the issue of why no interaction is showing, a frequency and a mode shape analysis have been done on the existing setup and two iterations of the setup. From these analyses, it has been found that the framework of the existing setup has too much freedom to move due to its stiffness being too low. When designing a setup, it can be said that not only should be looked at the scaled parameters but also the overall stiffness of the setup. To find the VBI, different vehicles are used together with an iteration of the existing setup and the Wavelet SynchroSqueezed Transform (WSST). With these experiments, an interaction has been found, but a lot of oscillations are happening in the interaction. More research on the WSST is proposed to get a better understanding of the WSST and to make the interaction more accurate. |
