Abstract: | This thesis presents the development of a Wearable Robotics Toolkit, an online resource designed to help artists, educators, and technologists integrate robotic movement systems into performance art, with a focus on facial identity perception. The central research question asks: How can a comprehensive toolkit be developed to guide artists in selecting and utilizing robotic movement systems to innovatively transform facial identity perception? Developed through the Creative Technology Design Process, the toolkit consists of a structured website that provides accessible resources for designing and implementing robotic movement systems. It features three versions: Artistic, showcasing expressive prototypes like robotic masks and wearable tentacles for storytelling; Technological, offering in-depth tutorials, CAD files, and programming guides; and Educational, presenting structured, beginner-friendly explanations. The project also involved developing physical prototypes, including a wearable tentacle and emotion-conveying mask, which were integrated into the website to illustrate their artistic and functional potential. |
