Abstract:This study examines the relationship between transactive communication and the experience and management of uncertainty during collaborative group tasks among university students. Given the increasing importance of collaborative work in higher education, it is crucial to understand how students navigate uncertainty in collaborative settings and how transactive communication influences this uncertainty. Therefore, the study investigates whether transactive communication is related to the frequency of uncertainty, the individual need for cognitive closure, and the use of strategies to manage uncertainty. A mixed-methods design was used, in which the frequency and management of uncertainty were assessed through video-based coding of group interactions, while the individual need for cognitive closure was measured using the Need for Closure Scale (NFCS) questionnaire.
