Abstract: | This thesis investigates how an insurance broker can screen customers for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risks. With growing regulatory pressure from frameworks such as CSRD and CSDDD, ESG screening is becoming important. However, there is currently no standardised method for insurance brokers, leading to risks such as greenwashing and compliance issues. A literature review indicated limited research on ESG screening within this sector and a lack of focus on non-publicly listed companies. Through a Delphi study, the most relevant ESG criteria were identified, and these were translated into measurable indicators using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. This led to the development of an ESG screening format specific for the insurance industry, enabling brokers to assess and compare customers more transparently. |
