Abstract:This thesis addresses the extent to which strategic partnerships contribute to the growth trajectories of biotech startups. Prior research has mostly targeted internal resources, but the power of external partnerships is relatively unexplored. Employing a qualitative methodology, this research draws on semi-structured interviews with executives in biotech startups from diverse growth stages. The paper shows that product development is facilitated by R&D partnerships during the early growth stage, while collaborations with pharmaceuticals, regulatory authorities, and investors in the later stages are essential for commercialization and scaling. Partnership intensity also proves significant, with intense partnerships leading to better scaling.
