Abstract:Surveys found that students are increasingly stressed, display high stress levels and have difficulties in finding appropriate stress-reducing coping strategies. Therefore, the current study investigated the effect of the mindfulness app 7Mind on the stress levels of university students. For this research, a pretest-posttest experimental design was used, which included 47 participants who completed one mindfulness exercise a day from the 7Mind app for 7 days. To measure their stress levels, participants filled out a questionnaire before the intervention and after using the mindfulness app for 7 days that contained the Perceived Stress Scale, which measured their current stress levels. The results indicate a decrease in stress levels after using the mindfulness app 7Mind for one week (t (46) =4.98, p < .001, 95% CI [2.51, 5.92], mean difference = 4.21). This provides a deeper understanding of the relation between mindfulness apps and stress, adding to the growing body of research about stress management for university students.
