Abstract: | Society, business environment and education are changing rapidly. Nowadays there is a national shift in education from transfer of knowledge towards a way of learning based on competencies. This process of change is evolved out of the need to let the results of education fit in with the developments in business society. Active participation in the complex society requires in addition to graduates with knowledge and skills, competent graduates and well-considered actions in the context of their occupation. Education that wants to practise competency-based learning, the quest for an appropriate way of assessment is an actual and essential assignment. The need for a competency-based assessment in the secretarial course at ROC Drenthe College was the motive for this master thesis. The goal of this project was to put competency-based assessments in practise. The assignment leads to the main research question of this thesis: How can in cooperation with the involved stakeholders an adequate competency-based assessment system be developed which fit in whit the needs of the stakeholders and feasible in practise? To answer this research question, the research consists of three phases: the orientation phase, the analyse phase and the design phase. |
