Abstract:Modern large scale projects, such as for instance the development of high velocity printers, rely on knowledge from several different disciplines. Traditionally every discipline has their own design methods and develops their own parts. This is often without looking at the effects their decisions have on the other disciplines. In the project called Boderc several companies and universities work together to find a good systematic approach for the development of distributed embedded real-time controllers for complex systems. In the Boderc project there was the need for a demonstration setup to validate their taken approach. To fill this need a demonstration setup of the paper path of a large scale printer was developed. In this mechatronic project the mechanical and electrical part are designed and constructed. Next to this, the interfacing between the demonstration setup, the embedded control system and 20-Sim was developed. At the end experiments were performed to validate the correct working of the setup. The result is a mechatronic demonstration setup which is a good representation of a paperpath and a good platform for hardware-in-the-loop simulations and distributed control.
