Abstract: | The Western Scheldt is located in the southwest of the Netherlands and is the Dutch part of the Scheldtestuary. A key issue in the longterm management strategy of the Western Scheldt is the preservation of the multichannel system. Preservation of the multichannel system is considered necessary to support the user functions safety, accessibility and naturalness, as formulated in the ‘Long Term Vision’ policy document. However, the exact relation between the multichannel system and the user functions of the Long Term Vision is unclear. The goal of the study is to increase the insights into this relation, thereby strengthening the link between the physical system characteristics and policy goals |
