Abstract: | Mangrove forests cover large parts of the tropical and subtropical shorelines in the world, and are of great economical and biological importance. The recent devastating tsunami attack (26 December 2004) increased the interest in mangrove shorelines by showing their ability to protect coastal regions. By modelling a mangrove forest in the Delft3D modelling package it is tried to get more insight in the hydrodynamics and morphodynamics in and around mangrove forests. This research is confined to the morphodynamics in fringe and overwash mangroves. |
