Abstract:of GeoQ as a civil engineering risk management approach. GeoQ has been developed by GeoDelft and is especially designed for managing risks from geotechnical nature. The added value will be determined both for the geotechnical engineer and for the civil and environmental construction sector as a whole. The investigation is conducted at GeoDelft, a knowledge centre in the fields of ground mechanics, foundation technique and geo-ecology. The services which GeoDelft provides diverge from institutional policy consultant to geotechnical specialist and from strategic consultant and R&D-specialist to calamity manager. The research has been divided into two parts. The first part consists of a verification of the GeoQ method to the theoretical framework. The theoretical framework consists of a literature survey to risk and risk management. The second part consists of determining the added value by means of the examination of three case studies. The added value is determined by comparing the results of a project process with and without the use of GeoQ.
