Abstract: | The main aim of the Lisbon Agenda is to make the EU “the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy in the world, capable of sustained economic growth with more and better jobs and greater social cohesion”. Some of the measures designed to achieve this goal target higher investments in education and training of human resources, increased investments in research & development (R&D) and the creation of a more favorable environment for business. These issues lead to an important question which is the research question of this paper: if most developed member states of the EU face difficulties in implementing the Lisbon targets, are these attainable by the new, less developed member states such as Romania? |
