Abstract:This research, about ‘property development in the healthcare sector’, was completed as a graduate assignment for a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Management for the University of Twente. The Dutch healthcare industry is currently subjected to privatisation, and recent changes in regulations and laws have made it possible for healthcare institutes to make decisions about their own property development. Project developers (for this research, specifically Heijmans Property) would like to be involved earlier and more intensively in projects in the heathcare sector, but they regularly experience a lack of trust from healthcare clients. This research focuses on the cure sector, which is a specific part of the whole healthcare sector. The research objective therefore is: Provide project developers, like Heijmans Property, with knowledge about how trust in cooperation with healthcare clients from the cure sector is established and can be maintained. The research was practical research in which a theoretical framework was tested and complemented by investigating real cases. Based on the results, recommendations were given to Heijmans Property.
