Abstract: | Central in this study are the effects of performance rewards in terms of commitment, absenteeism and turnover intention. Instead of looking at performance rewards in general (which sort of performance rewards are there in an organization), this study will emphasize the process of performance rewards and the consensus of it among the different actors in an organization. Bowen & Ostroff (2004; Ostroff & Bowen, 2000) say that consensus among the different actors (HRM and line managers) is extremely important. When consensus is high in an organization, it will be clear to the employees what will be expected from them. According to Bowen & Ostroff, this will lead to a higher organizational climate, which on his turn has its influence on organizational performance. The question is though, if this consensus has also its influence on commitment, absenteeism and turnover intention in an organization. This study will deepen the performance rewards consensus and the effects of the organizational climate as a mediator and/or moderator on these constructs. |
