Abstract:Objective: Examine what Poland and the United States can learn from each other regarding research on the causes of alcohol use among adolescents. Method: For as well Poland as the United States 22 articles were found from which ten per country were selected for further analyses. These ten studies were evaluated on explored themes, used methods and research quality. Results: Both countries mainly performed research on two themes and in generally used cross sectional questionnaires which were analyzed by means of inferential statistics. Unlike Poland the United States based their research more often on theories and models, except high school students also used college students as experimental subjects and had a bit more authentic research. Conclusion: In the field of researched factors both countries could learn from each other. Regarding research quality the United States were privileged. Qua research methods as well Poland as the United States had quite a few imperfections.
