Abstract:In the current study the relationship between high leader-member exchange quality and affective commitment, customer orientation and innovative behavior is examined. Furthermore it is tested if satisfaction with HR practices is a possible mediator between these relationships. This study is conducted on three innovative companies within the technical sector. In a cross-sectional survey, questionnaires were distributed in the participating companies as online- and paper versions. In total, 151 respondents participated in this study. Analysis shows that leader-member exchange relationship quality is positively related to affective commitment and innovative behavior, but not to customer orientation. Satisfaction with HR practices is not observed as being a mediator between these relationships
