Abstract:This study examines the relationship between a proactive personality and psychological ownership and examines if job autonomy, self-efficacy, active participation and innovative ideas work as a mediator in the relation between the two constructs. These relations are explained by the theory of Pierce, Kostova en Dirks (2001). This study also examines if relationship conflict moderates the relationship between innovative ideas and psychological ownership. Using data from 166 employees of the municipality Zwolle, the results show that a proactive personality is a predictor of psychological ownership and that especially self-efficacy mediates the relationship between the two constructs. Job autonomy, active participation and innovative ideas do not mediate, yet they are indeed a predictor of psychological ownership. The results also show that relationship conflict does not moderate the relationship between innovative ideas and psychological ownership
