Abstract:
This thesis explores the psychological contract from the view of a client organization towards their temp agency workers. According to Tsui et al.(1997) and Tsui & Wu (2005) client organizations either have a quasi-spot contract or an underinvestment approach towards the temp agency workers. According to Tsui et al.(1997) and Tsui & Wu (2005) the mutual investment and overinvestment approach, are not used with respect to temp agency workers. Those claims are being under investigation in this thesis with the help of semi-structured interviews and a short questionnaire. Four different Dutch companies took part in this study and provided the possibility to conduct 8 interviews with human resource managers and supervisors. The analysis of the interviews and the questionnaire led to the conclusion that the conclusions of Tsui et al. (1997) and Tsui & Wu (2005) are partially true. Two of the four companies indeed used an quasi spot contract and two companies used an overinvestment approach.
