Abstract: | The Dutch provinces display all their services and products for the citizens on the internet in the digital Provincial Products Catalogue (PPC). This study brings in view the usability of the current PPC and proposes some specific improvements for a new version of the PPC. Usability was measured according to a framework that was formulated in ISO9421-11 (ISO, 1998), in which the effectiveness and efficiency of and the satisfaction with the achievement of user-goals using the product are the main elements. These different elements were measured with a short interview, a user test and a user satisfaction questionnaire. In its current state the PPC does not seem to score high on usability. The findability of the PPC, the intelligence of the search-engine within the PPC, the language used within the PPC and the design of the PPC need attention when designing a new version |
