Abstract:
This study was designed to see whether conflict management styles could be explained by an interaction between personality and interpersonal skills. The study was held by teachers (N=700), precisely because in this group conflict plays an important role. The results have shown that there are indeed strong relationships between personality traits and the style of problem solving. What could not be demonstrated was the relationship between interpersonal skills and problem solving. This suggests that these skills do not affect whether or not handling the problem solving style. Within this research also examined the potential impact of interpersonal skills on the relationship between personality and problem solving. It is mainly focused on the personality traits extraversion, conscientiousness and emotional stability, precisely because these traits were most related to social relationships. However, the results showed that interpersonal skills do not affect the relations between extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability and problem solving. It could be concluded that conflict management style could not be explained by an interaction of interpersonal skills and personality
