Abstract:This research is focused on the development of a decision making process which Chinese Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) can use to increase export. The research question will be answered by conducting a case study at a Chinese SME (namely IS PET) where our model, derived from a literature study, will be tested. IS PET, a medium-sized company in China is specialized in pet products. The company is interested in increasing export activities. At the end of 2009 they decided they wanted to start export to the Canadian market and increase export to the E.U. and U.S.A. market. For that purpose they request a usable decision making process which they can use. Combining this with the limited availability of research regarding Chinese SMEs the following research question has been formulated: “What decision making process for increasing export to mature markets is appropriate for a Chinese SME and how can IS PET increase its export to the selected countries?”
