Abstract:In this study the relationship between the type of conflict people encounter and knowledge sharing is studied. We also look at a possible moderating influence of conflict management, in this case forcing and problem solving, on that relation. Further the relation between knowledge sharing and work well-being is explored. These possible relations are studied using a questionnaire, which was filled out by 137 adults. As was expected, relationship conflict was detrimental to knowledge sharing, but contrary to expectations task conflict also turned out to be detrimental. The moderating influence of conflict management strategies forcing and problem solving is studied. Problem solving did not influence the relationships between conflict types and knowledge sharing. Forcing seems to lessen the negative influence of task conflict on knowledge sharing, but no influence was found on the relationship between personal conflict and knowledge sharing. Knowledge sharing proved to have a positive relation to work well-being, as was expected.
