Abstract: | In this paper the process surrounding the development of a sequel to the preventive psychological intervention ‘Live to the Fullest’ is described. For the development of this sequel methods from ‘user centered design’ (UCD) were used. This design strategy actively involves end-users in every stage of the development of a product. UCD is used in among others the development of computer equipment and software (Abras, Maloney-Krichmar & Preece, 2004) and products such as ‘intelligent’ household appliances (Buurman, 1997). In this research several methods from UCD are used to involve the target group and other users in the development of a preventive intervention. The methods used are a focus group, interview and questionnaire. The goal of this research is to describe the process and make recommendations concerning the use of UCD methods in the development of a preventive intervention. |
