Abstract:The goal of this study is to gain insight in the modelling of (physical) contact in Adams, a product by MSC Software. Adams is the most widely used multibody dynamics and motion analysis software in the world. The aim is to establish an understanding of contact in Adams and the relation to the laws of physics. First, the algorithms and formulas used by Adams are analysed. Second, a variety of models is simulated and the effects of the corresponding variables are analysed. After this study the acquired knowledge can be used to model more complex systems in Adams.
