Reality-televisie: welke kijkmotieven zijn er en speelt sociale vergelijking een rol bij de keuze voor reality-televisie?

Bos, M. (2012)

n the last few years, the total reality programs on the Dutch television have known a major increase. Therefore in this study there have been examined which motives people have to watch different subgenres of reality television. Furthermore this study examined whether there is a relationship between the appearance of the characteristic social comparison orientation and to what extend people watch reality programs. The data for this study is collected with an online questionnaire. The results show that entertainment, habitual pass time and relaxation appear to be important motives to watch different subgenres. Voyeurism did not seem to be a motive for watching one of the subgenres. Furthermore there is no significant relationship between the appearances of social comparison orientation and to what extend someone watches reality programs.
