Abstract: | This research has looked at the importance of technology for motivating and the knowledge acquirement of students within a mobile learning tour. This research has been done within a project of the Nature Environment and Education centre of Enschede about flax. For this research literature has been used to seek factors that increase motivation and learning with student within mobile learning. Based on these point a educational tour has been set up with three versions : a version bases on technology, in this case GPS in which as many of the found factors were incorporated. A second version which was paper based but that did include as many of the factors mentioned in the literature and a control version in which as few as possible factors were used. Motivation and knowledge were measured based on a questionnaire in which motivation was measured as the sum of involvement, enjoyment, confidence and interest. Only a few significant differences were found between the different versions. First of all only differences that were significant between the GPS and paper version versus the control version were found with the aspect of knowledge. The expectation was the GPS version would score higher than the paper and control version. This was only the case for the aspect of enjoyment. No other significant differences were found and results were even found that the paper version scored higher than the GPS version on interest and knowledge.Within this research almost no evidence was found that students prefer working with technology, but more research should be done to confirm this. |
