Abstract:During the analysis phase, research is done to find out which needs there are from Philips Lighting for plastic processing. Different stakeholders were set to create a certain hierarchy in all the needs. After all, not every stakeholder is equally important. All the different needs, demands and wishes are translated to evaluation criteria. On the basis of these criteria the end result will be tested, to find out if this result actually meets all the demands from Philips Lighting. In the research phase, research is conducted to find out which possibilities there are for the processing of plastics. This was done from a "lege weide" point of view. From this point on the research continues in a converging manner, to create a shortlist with processing possibilities. This is done through desk research and field research. In the field research, a lot of communication with various companies and suppliers is done. With all this obtained information and data the shortlist is composed. This shortlist consists of processing possibilities which should meet all the demands from Philips Lighting. In the last phase of the research, the end result is tested on the basis of a four small projects. These projects consisted of four plastic parts which are used in luminaires. On the basis of these projects it has been judged whether the end result, the shortlist, is complete and can be substantiated as being useful for Philips Lighting. The test is conducted by requesting quotations from different suppliers. The end result of this research is the shortlist of processing possibilities that can be used during the development of products and somponents in luminaires. In addition to this there is a search tool made in which various processing techniques are explained, as well as the interpretation of these techniques and the indication of possible suppliers who can manufacture plastic parts for luminaires.
