Abstract:This bachelor assignment was focused on the question: “How can the quality of the finishing process of banners be improved?” Issues are the functioning of the finishing process, found problems in the process, new solutions that address the problems the most, these solutions functioning as a prototype and in the end the realization of the chosen solutions. The project was commissioned by Sign Shop B.V., owner of the webshop 123spandoek.nl, and during three months the focus was to make improvements for the finishing process of banners. In the analysis stage was revealed that there are many possibilities to change the finishing process, but that the most profit can be made in the field of welding and cutting. In the design stage, the ideas related to welding and cutting are developed further. After wide analysis, there was chosen for fold welding and cutting with a single guided cutter. Furthermore, in the design stage is paid attention to the table and eyelet presses. In the detailing stage, all selected designs are concretized and there is made a preparation for the test stage, in which the principles are tested with prototypes. The principles of the redesigns as required by the client were functioning and these were going to be applied. Also, in the test stage it was concluded that the benefits of plastic eyelets were not enough convincing above metal eyelets. So the client continues to use metal eyelets. By lack of time the realization stage could not be completed. All things related to the guidance were made, as well as the magnet devices. The table construction could be prepared, but not assembled. This needs only welding of the aluminum. Specifically, this bachelor assignment brought the client a number of improvements. The cutting is now done from left to right, making it possible to position the banners once per side. Furthermore, the cutting happens now completely guided with an improved LED strip, whereby the cutting can take place more accurately. The fixing of the banner with magnetic holders is more robust and causes less waste. The welding is not changed, as desired by the client, it would require an high investment of time and money.
