Abstract: | ment Method) solvers also the need for high performance data processing tools has become evident. Since typical data sets can grow as large as many terrabytes the simple post processing and visualization scripts used by many researchers are no longer usable or practical. This project therefore has focussed on the development of a parallel data post processing toolbox for DEM data. The toolbox was constructed in a very modular fashion, standing as a standalone program and allowing for future exten- sion of the toolbox. Due to the need for a high performing toolbox the toolbox has been extensively tested and benchmarked on various parallel computers, among which a standard 12-core desktop machine but also the UK leading HPC system, HECToR (+-90.000 cores). In addition an implementation of the Coarse Graining method as described in [2] has been added to the newly developed toolbox, which has been used to process results from various problems encountered by researchers at the host group. |
