Abstract: | Abstract In 2011, 31,707 abortions were recorded. Although the Netherlands is among the countries with the lowest abortion rates it remains a very radical decision that can have harmful consequences for a woman. It is important that these women receive counseling. Women who have had an abortion are having a higher risk of getting mental health problems. They experience a significant level of anxiety and are having a higher chance of developing a post-traumatic stress disorder. For women who have had an abortion, which led to physical and psychological symptoms, Fiom has developed an online treatment. This study looked at the socio-demographic data and symptoms of clients, who participated in the treatment, still participate or dropped out. This study also looked at why clients needed help and how they rated the online treatment Method There are intake (n=412) and evaluation forms (n1=59, n2=30) completed by clients who participated in the online treatment. These intake and evaluations forms were analyzed. The responses of the clients that were given to the questions in the forms where, if needed, categorized and then coded and processed in SPSS. In SPSS descriptive analyzes were used. Results Most clients had an abortion when they were pregnant between five and ten weeks. The most common complaints were having sadness (lots of crying) and depression. Slightly more than half of the clients in the second evaluation indicate that it goes well with them. The majority of the clients thought the online treatment was good to understand and supervisors were often experienced as personal and understanding Conclusion & Discussion From this study can be concluded that the clients are a heterogeneous group. They live all over the country and differ from each other in terms of having a partner and/or children. Generally provides the majority of the clients, after participating in the online treatment, that they are less or no longer suffering from symptoms. About the online treatment most of the clients is positive. For further research is recommended that the questions in the forms are more consistent to ensure that the answers given can be analyzed clearly. It would also be useful for Fiom to investigate adherence and non-adherence of clients. Perhaps better results will be obtained through face-to-face interviews |
