Abstract: | This research is trying to optimize a tutorial made for Word-abilities. This tutorial is based on eight guidelines that are established by Van der Meij and Van der Meij (2013). The focus will be on improving the attention, retention, reproduction and motivation of learners. Also other processes like self-efficacy and task-relevance are discussed. Firstly, the theories of observational learning (Bandura, 1986) and demonstration-based training (Rosen, Salas, Pavlas, Jensen, Fu, & Lampton, 2010) will be discussed. Secondly, an empirical study is overviewed. In this empirical study learners of the target group were asked to provide feedback about the current tutorial. The theories and the feedback are the fundaments for the new design of the tutorial. The results of the second empirical study are discussed as well. The discussion addresses the adjustments and the entire design and research process. The results are associated to this process and possibilities for future research are discussed. |
