Abstract: | In this thesis the return demand is taken into account in the forecast at ASML. Currently ASML determines the safety stock levels by having the usage as main input in the model. However at ASML the orders of parts are not all used parts, but a big portion is returns. By making use of optimization models of ASML and an own developed simulation model, the impact of the new forecast method is made clear. Adding the returns to the forecast results in a reduction in emergency transportation costs, replenishment cycle time, number of out-of-stocks and waiting time at the customer. The recommendation is thereby to implement the forecast with returns and next to that reduce the orders without usage. |
