Abstract:In this report you will read about the development of a transport solution for the Ultimaker 2 3D printer. This project was done as a completion of the bachelor education program of Industrial Design at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. There are roughly two parts in this report: the ‘research phase’ and the ‘development phase’. The research phase consists of the introduction, analysis and the table of demands. The development phases consists of ideas, concepts and detailing. The first phase starts with an introduction. The introduction briefly explains 3D printing en introduces the client, Ultimaker BV. Furthermore the given assignment, develop a solution to make transport of the Ultimaker 2 easier and safer, will be elaborated. The second chapter is the analysis, this chapter shines a light on the current and the desired situation. The current situation is among others determined with the help of an interview with the client and an scenario analysis. The desired situation is mainly determined with the help of a survey among the users. On the foundation of the analysis the Table of Demands is drawn. These demands are described in chapter three. The most important demands are the tranport solution can be used with only the hands and that the solution protects against impact damage. The second phase starts at chapter four with a an idea generation based on some of the demands. The concepts are created by combining the generated ideas. These concepts are presented in chapter five, after which, one is chosen to further develop. Chapter six shows the detailing and also shows the 3D model of the final design. The final part of the design phase consists of the building of a prototype, which is written in chapter seven. This report ends with recommendations for further development, discussion about the process and a conclusion whether the assignment has been completed
