Abstract:This bachelorthesis investigated if it is possible to measure fatigue in an implicit manner and if implicit measures of fatigue have advantages in comparison to explicit measures of fatigue. The study had 82 respondents who were all Psychology- or Communicationsciencestudents of the University of Twente. Also all respondents were at the age of 18 to 25 years old. The respondents made an Implicit Associationtest, measuring the implicit relationship between fatigue and self-concept. Furthermore they filled in a questionnaire, which measured fatigue in an explicit manner and also investigates other important variables. The vitality subscale of the RAND-36 was used to get an explicit measurement of fatigue. The calculated correlations were not significant so it cannot be concluded, that it is possible to measure fatigue implicitly. After all the study gave some aspects which can be improved. Considering these improvements the study can be replicated, so that further research on the field of implicit measures of fatigue can be done.
